Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 1, 2026
Last updated: September 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how JDM Origins LLC, doing business as Impulse Performance ("Impulse Performance," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, shares, and retains personal information.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we collect through:

  • Our online store at www.impulse-performance.com
  • Our customer invoice portal, hosted by Zoho
  • Our vehicle drop-off form at dashboard.impulsehq.net
  • Service, parts, and dyno tuning work performed at our shop in Maple Grove, Minnesota
  • Email, text messages, and phone calls between you and our staff

This policy does not cover information we collect from job applicants, employees, owners, or contractors in connection with employment or a business relationship.

Our products and services are offered to customers in the United States. We do not sell or ship internationally, and this website is not directed to individuals outside the United States.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and identity information — first and last name, email address, phone number, and mailing or shipping address (street, city, state, ZIP, country).
  • Account information — your login credentials or the profile information shared by a third-party sign-in provider, and your order history.
  • Vehicle drop-off information — everything you enter on our drop-off form, including your contact details, vehicle information, the services you are requesting, your handwritten signature captured on-screen, your agreement to our service terms, and your communication preferences.
  • Communications — the content of emails, text messages, voicemails, and messages you send us, including photos or documents you attach.
  • Marketing preferences — whether you have opted in to receive promotional email or text messages from us.
  • Social media information — your handle or profile information if you provide it to us or interact with us on a social platform.

Vehicle and service information

Because we are a performance and tuning shop, we collect and keep technical information about your vehicle, including:

  • Vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate number and state, year, make, model, and mileage
  • Service history, estimates, invoices, technician notes, and parts installed
  • ECU calibration and tune files, datalogs, and dynamometer results
  • Photographs of your vehicle taken during intake or service

Some of this information — a VIN or a license plate, for example — can be linked to you personally, so we treat it as personal information under this policy.

Payment information

When you pay us, your card or account details are transmitted directly to our payment processor. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers. We retain only what the processor returns to us, such as the card brand, the last four digits, the transaction amount, and an authorization result.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website, we and our service providers automatically collect:

  • IP address, device type, operating system, and browser
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, products browsed, search terms, and time spent
  • The website or advertisement that referred you to us
  • Items added to your cart, including carts you do not complete
  • Cookies and similar identifiers set by us and by the third parties described below

Information we receive from third parties

  • Vehicle data lookups. Our drop-off form offers an optional license-plate lookup that returns vehicle attributes such as VIN, year, make, and model. This lookup is performed by a third-party vehicle data provider accessed through the RapidAPI marketplace. It returns vehicle information only; it does not return registered-owner information to us.
  • Fraud screening. Our fraud prevention provider evaluates orders and returns a risk assessment to us.
  • Financing providers. If you apply for financing, the provider tells us whether your purchase was approved and funded.
  • Sign-in providers. If you sign in using a third-party account, that provider shares limited profile information with us — typically your name and email address. We never receive your password.

How we use your information

  • Process, fulfill, and deliver your orders, and handle returns and warranty claims
  • Schedule service, perform work on your vehicle, and prepare estimates and invoices
  • Contact you about your order, your vehicle, or a question you have raised
  • Determine parts fitment and develop or revise a calibration for your vehicle
  • Take payment and maintain accounting and tax records
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions
  • Send marketing messages, if you have opted in
  • Understand how our website is used and improve it
  • Measure the performance of our advertising
  • Meet our legal obligations and enforce our terms, including our right to a mechanic's lien

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember your cart and preferences, and understand how the site is used.

Analytics and advertising measurement

We use Google and YouTube integrations that collect customer and website event data through both your browser and our server. This data is used for website analytics and to measure and improve the performance of our advertising. Depending on the event, the information sent may include page and product views, purchases and order values, and contact information such as your email address or phone number in a hashed (obscured) form. Google may use this information to attribute conversions to advertisements and to build advertising audiences.

We also use Shopify's built-in analytics, which reports on store traffic and sales.

Fraud prevention

Our checkout uses a fraud prevention service that runs on every order. It receives order and customer information, including your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, IP address, device characteristics, and payment metadata, and returns a risk assessment. This service runs on all orders because it protects both you and us against fraudulent transactions.

Your choices about tracking

  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may prevent parts of our store from working, including the cart and checkout.
  • You can manage how Google personalizes advertising to you at myadcenter.google.com.
  • You can install Google's browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to these signals. Our website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. The choices described above are available to you regardless of your browser's Do Not Track setting.

How we share your information

We share personal information with the following categories of recipients, and only as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

Who What they receive and why
Shopify Hosts our online store and processes orders, accounts, and store analytics on our behalf.
Zoho Hosts our invoicing system and customer invoice portal.
Supabase and Vercel Host our drop-off form and internal systems, and store submissions in encrypted form.
Payment processors
Shopify Payments, Stripe, Square, PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay
Process your payment. Your card details go to them directly, not through us.
Financing providers
Affirm, Shop Pay Installments, PayPal
If you choose to finance a purchase, you apply directly with the provider under its own privacy policy and terms. We receive only the outcome.
Fraud prevention provider Screens orders for fraud, as described above.
Google Website analytics and advertising measurement, as described above.
Vehicle data provider (via RapidAPI) Receives a license plate and state when you use the optional lookup on our drop-off form.
Shipping carriers and suppliers Receive your name, address, and contact details to deliver your order. Some parts ship directly from a manufacturer or distributor.
Professional advisors Our accountants, insurers, and attorneys, when needed.
Law enforcement and legal process When required by law. Minnesota law also requires us to make certain repair records available to law enforcement for inspection on reasonable prior notice during business hours.
A buyer of our business If we are ever sold, merged, or reorganized, customer information may transfer as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not disclose it to data brokers or list sellers.

We do share website and purchase event data with Google for advertising measurement and audience building, as described in the section on cookies and advertising. Under some state privacy laws, that kind of disclosure is treated as "sharing" or as processing for targeted advertising. We want you to understand what happens with your information rather than rely on a technical definition, which is why we describe it plainly above and give you the opt-out options listed there.

Email and text messages

Email

We send transactional emails — order confirmations, shipping notifications, invoices, estimates, and replies to your questions — as part of doing business with you. These are not marketing messages and you cannot unsubscribe from them while you have an active order or open service ticket.

We send marketing emails — promotions, service reminders, and product updates — only if you have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to be removed.

Text messages

If you provide your mobile number and consent, we send you text messages about your vehicle service and your orders. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for assistance. You can also contact us directly to be removed.

Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any product or service from us. If you would prefer not to receive texts, we will contact you by phone or email instead.

We would only send promotional or marketing text messages if you separately opt in to receive them.

We do not share your mobile phone number or your text messaging consent with any third party for that third party's own marketing purposes. Your number is shared only with the telecommunications providers that deliver our messages to you.

How long we keep your information

Some of our records exist because the law requires them. Minnesota's Truth in Repairs Act requires a repair shop to retain the customer's name and address, any written estimates, and the repair invoice for at least one year, and to make those records available for inspection and copying by law enforcement on reasonable prior notice. Minnesota tax rules require sales and use tax records to be preserved for at least three and a half years, and federal tax rules can require records to be kept longer. We use a seven-year period for financial and service records so that we comfortably meet all of these obligations.

Information How long we keep it
Invoices, estimates, and transaction records 7 years
Customer name and address connected to a repair 7 years
Vehicle records — VIN, plate, year, make, model, mileage, service history 7 years after your most recent service
Tune files, calibrations, datalogs, and dyno results 7 years after your most recent service
Signed drop-off and service authorization forms 7 years
Your online account profile Until you close it or ask us to delete it
Support emails, texts, and messages 3 years
Abandoned cart data 90 days
Marketing email and text subscriptions Until you opt out
Records of opt-outs and unsubscribes Kept indefinitely, so that we can continue to honor your choice
Website analytics data According to the retention setting in our analytics account

We may keep information longer than the periods above where we are required to by law, or where it is needed for an open dispute, insurance claim, warranty matter, or legal proceeding.

Your choices and your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we have — a summary of the personal information we hold about you and who we have shared it with
  • Give you a copy — including copies of your repair records, which Minnesota law entitles you to receive on payment of any reasonable reproduction cost
  • Correct it — if something is wrong or out of date
  • Delete it — subject to the records we are required to keep, described below
  • Stop marketing to you — by email, text, or both

What we cannot delete

We cannot delete records we are legally required to retain, or that we need to keep for a legitimate business reason. This includes invoices and transaction records, the customer and repair records required by Minnesota law, records of your opt-outs, and information needed for an open dispute, warranty claim, or legal matter. If you ask us to delete your information, we will delete what we can and tell you plainly what we have kept and why.

How to make a request

Email privacy@impulse-performance.com and tell us what you would like us to do.

To protect your information, we need to confirm that the request is really coming from you. The easiest way is to send your request from the email address on your account or order. If you cannot, we may ask you for your full name, phone number, and the number or approximate date of a recent order or service visit so that we can match it to our records. We may ask a follow-up question if the information you provide does not match what we have on file.

We aim to respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and when to expect a response. We will not charge you for a request or treat you differently for making one.

Notice to California residents

If you are a California resident, you may review and request changes to the personal information we hold about you by contacting us at privacy@impulse-performance.com, using the process described above under "How to make a request."

The effective date at the top of this policy tells you when the current version took effect. If we make changes, we will follow the process described in "Changes to this policy" below. Our response to Do Not Track signals is described in the "Do Not Track" section above.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information. Our websites use encrypted connections, drop-off form submissions are stored encrypted, payment card data is handled by our payment processors rather than by us, and access to customer records is limited to staff who need it to do their jobs.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or information has been compromised, contact us at privacy@impulse-performance.com right away.

Children's privacy

Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not direct our website to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@impulse-performance.com and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

Our website links to other sites, including manufacturer pages, payment and financing providers, and our social media accounts. We do not control those sites, and this policy does not apply to them. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If we make a material change to how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice — for example, a notice on our website or an email to customers on our list. Your continued use of our website or services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
